How To Embed Video Into Powerpoint

Embedding a video into a PowerPoint presentation can be a great way to add visual interest and engage your audience. Whether you’re showcasing a product demo, giving a tutorial, or sharing a video clip relevant to your presentation, adding a video can help to break up text-heavy slides and keep your audience’s attention. In this blog post, we’ll show you how to embed a video into PowerPoint, including tips and tricks for getting the best results.

First, you’ll need to have a video file that you want to embed into your PowerPoint presentation. The video file should be in a format that PowerPoint can recognize, such as MP4, AVI, or WMV. Once you have your video file ready, open up PowerPoint and navigate to the slide where you want to embed the video.

Next, click on the “Insert” tab in the ribbon menu and select “Video” from the dropdown menu. This will bring up a dialog box where you can choose to embed a video from a file on your computer or from a website such as YouTube. For this tutorial, we’ll assume you’re embedding a video from a file on your computer.

Once you’ve selected your video file, PowerPoint will insert the video into your slide. You can then use the handles to resize and reposition the video as needed. You can also right-click on the video and select “Format Video” to access additional formatting options.

One important thing to keep in mind when embedding a video into PowerPoint is that the video will only play when the presentation is being viewed in “Slide Show” mode. In “Normal” view, the video will appear as a static image. To play the video during your presentation, you’ll need to start the slide show and click on the video to play it.

Another tip to keep in mind is that you can use the “Trim Video” feature in PowerPoint to cut out unwanted sections of your video. This can be useful if you only want to show a specific portion of the video during your presentation. To access this feature, right-click on the video and select “Trim Video.”

Additionally, you can also use the “Video Tools” tab in PowerPoint to add effects to your video, such as a border or a shadow. This can help to make your video stand out and draw attention to it on the slide.
